Bound across the void

Dormant wood waits in quiet dark

for one distant, flying spark;

Through thousands of waves of open sea,

the pale moon pulls the waters free.

Miles above, where dark clouds form,

opposing charges swell in storm—

A golden flash breaks through the height

to bind the earth in sudden light.

Deep in dry and thirsty ground,

a sleeping seed waits for the sound,

until the falling rain descends

to wake the life that earth defends.

And though the flash has vanished far,

leaving faint the sky with scar,

the thunder rolls across the cloud,

echoing long and loud.
